THE FAITH ACADEMY
STATEMENT OF FAITH

God is one eternally existent, infinite God, who exists outside of time and space. He is unchanging in nature, and completely present in all places at the same time within all of existence. God is invisible as he is spirit, yet he is personal to all mankind. God is true and faithful, wise and all knowing; he is pure and holy and as such is the source and standard of what is right, just, and righteous as revealed in his moral nature and his judgment.

Jesus is the son and the incarnation of God; a human nature was inseparably united with the divine nature in the one person of Jesus. Each of the two natures remained distinct and unchanged so that Jesus was fully God and fully man as he was conceived through the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. The divinity of Jesus was pre-existent as the eternal, second being of the triunity. He enjoyed complete divine fellowship with God and the Holy Spirit; and, in human form, Jesus the Messiah was completely sinless. As a sinless being he died for sins, arose from the dead, and became perfect in all attributes of a man as he ascended into heaven and is there engaged in intercession for mankind.

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the triunity of God, proceeding from the Father and from the Son. The Holy Spirit is eternal possessing divine attributes like being all-powerful, and all knowing. He also exhibits intellect, a will, wisdom, and spiritual conviction. The Holy Spirit is active today in the lives of unbelievers convincing them of their sin and pending judgment if they do not believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior. He is also active in the lives of believers convicting, interceding, transforming, calling, and giving gifts for his commissioning.

Mankind was created in God-likeness including the ability to choose between right and wrong. Humanity thus was made morally responsible. Because of the fall of Adam and Eve, mankind became depraved and can no longer have relationship with God apart from salvation through Jesus. All of humanity has a fallen nature, therefore God made provision for our reconciliation to him through grace by faith in the substitution sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.

Salvation has been provided through Jesus the Savior for all men; and those who repent and believe in Him are born again by the Holy Spirit, receive the gift of eternal life, and become the children of God. Through Jesus each person may once again have an active relationship with God so that, as Paul and James state, “fruits will abound” in the believer’s life and not moral depravity. The only way God could reveal himself in relationship with his people was by taking the form of human nature, and in the person of his son showing us both what he is and what he would desire us to emulate.

The starting point of Christian doctrine is belief in God. God therefore inspired his words in the scriptures and they are infallible in all understanding and truth of the salvation story of God for mankind. The distinctive tenet of the Bible is belief in Jesus as Savior, and thus it is the perfect and final revelation for faith and practice of God to man.

The second coming of Jesus is certain and will be immediate. At that time both the living and the dead who are believers in Jesus will be taken up to be with him. They will be present with the triune God for eternity.
